Your journey begins at the foot of Mount Meru in Arusha, a gateway to Tanzania’s safari destinations. From emerald-green coffee bushes, journey to the wildlife-teeming wilderness of Tarangire National Park for an introduction to safari before moving on to Serengeti for unforgettable game viewing within an ancient landscape. The Ngorongoro grass plains will provide you with sightings of most of the ungulates, while Lake Manyara teems with the famous tree-climbing lions.
Your guide will meet you at the hotel or the airport and give you a safari briefing. You will then drive to Tarangire National Park for some amazing game viewing. The game in this beautiful national park is plentiful and the magnificent bird watching will make a devoted birder (and even the most reluctant) appreciate them. The park is home to up to 2,500 elephants which can be seen looking for underground water in the dry riverbeds during the dry season. You will also see migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, and other incredible sightings like lion, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, baboon, and waterbuck. The park’s scenery is amazing, a landscape dotted with huge baobab trees and the meandering life-giving Tarangire River. It offers excellent game viewing during the dry season (June to October) when the migratory wildebeest and zebra are around. Later in the evening, we leave the park and drive to Africa Glamping Camp.

After a leisurely breakfast at the lodge, we set out for the endless open plains and stunning skies of Serengeti National Park, a famous migration corridor and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll have a chance to witness the great migration of wildebeest and zebra. Depending on the time of the year, the migration is within the southern grass plains and the central part from December to May. During these two days, we will explore the park’s rich habitats for the big cats who rule the plains. Serengeti is home to lion, leopard, hippo, cheetah, giraffe, eland, warthog, and hyrax. The plains are dotted with rocky outcrops, swamps, valleys, acacia trees, and riverine habitats. The central part is good for game viewing throughout the year. Your accommodation at Serengeti Heritage Camp is set in the central part, ideal for game viewing.

After breakfast, we depart Serengeti and drive to Ngorongoro for a game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. Late in the afternoon, we drive back to the lodge. The jewel in Ngorongoro’s crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 21km across, 600m deep, and 265 sq. km in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos, and other waterbirds can usually be seen here. Grazers like zebra, wildebeest, and buffalo can be seen grazing in the open grass plains, and lions laying lazily. The forest and swamps are perfect areas to look for big-tusked elephants and hippos basking on the edges to warm their bodies. Your accommodation, Farm of Dreams Lodge, is located in the tourist town of Karatu and sits in a garden of flowers and vegetables.

Leave the lodge after an early breakfast with a delicious packed picnic lunch and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for game viewing. The park is home to the famous tree-climbing lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and big troops of baboons. More than 400 species of birds have been recorded here, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 50 of these in one day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favoured haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions as well as giraffes. After lunch, we leave the park and head to Arusha. Your guide will drop you off at your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward connection.
