You leave River Trees Inn after breakfast with a picnic lunch packed safely away. The Rift Valley landscape drifts past as your guide heads for Tarangire National Park, the least visited reserve on the itinerary but one capable of delivering fantastic game viewing. Home to Tanzania’s biggest elephant population, Tarangire supports large numbers of buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and many antelope species, most evident during the dry season when concentrations of animals at the life-giving Tarangire River are at their peak June-October. Explore the park’s rich habitats from the life-giving River, a landscape dotted with baobab trees, swamps, and open plains, late in the evening drive to your lodge for dinner, and overnight. Today you set off towards the Ngorongoro crater for a beautiful game drive. It shelters close to 30.000 animals including the Big Five. The crater teems with zebras, buffaloes, lions, wildebeest, warthogs, baboons, elephants, flamingos, ostriches, hippos, hyenas, and a small population of the rare black rhino. The beautiful colours and dancing clouds make the crater almost surreal. Because of its natural beauty, the Ngorongoro Crater is chosen as one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders. After your picnic lunch, you will return to the lodge and spend the afternoon enjoying the pool at your luxury lodge. Free optional Karatu town market tour can be arranged on request. After breakfast, you will collect your picnic lunch from the hotel and drive to Serengeti National Park, which has the largest concentration of big games in the world.
